Centre des Sciences de Montréal : This science and technology centre is one of the old port’s biggest attractions. Three major permanent exhibitions which are now part of the centre anchor the museum along with the IMAX theatre. Champ-de-Mars : this huge public space is located behind city hall. This is a good place to relax, get a great view of downtown, and check out the remains of the old fortifications that surrounded the new city. In 1820s these fortifications demolished themselves as the city outgrew them. The pieces in the shape of two lines of stone can be seen still there. For viewing city hall it is a fine vantage point.
